German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012: Salakjit Ponsana overpowers Karin Schnaase in the qualifying round
Thailand’s Salakjit Ponsana lived up to the expectations as she overpowered Germany’s Karin Schnaase in Women’s Singles qualifying round of German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Tuesday, February 28, at Mulheim, Germany.
Salakjit, who is the third seed in Women’s Singles qualifying round, had to work hard against the spirited German opponent and managed to bag victory in three games by consuming 54 minutes in the court.
It was a wonderful fight that engaged the local crowd until the ending points. Both ladies made the contest interesting with their aggressive play in the whole contest.
In the first set, Salakjit was everywhere in the court as she did not let her rival to put up strong resistance.
Her impressive strokes landed perfectly in the right areas and until the interval, the Thai shuttler managed a wonderful lead.
After the break, Salakjit continued her roller-coaster run by playing to her maximum potential.
She did not let her local opponent to level the score at any stage in the concluding part and won the first set with a remarkable score of 21-11.
In the second game, Karin displayed a sensational show of her brilliance as she played at her maximum speed and remained dominant in the opening half.
After the break, Salakjit tried her best to tackle the attacking play of her lower ranked rival but failed to stop Karin who was playing perfect badminton. The Thai lady lost the second game with a huge difference of 13-21.
In the decider, both ladies snapped each other’s heel by playing positive and fast badminton. They employed their wonderful skills to dominate the pace of rallies but no one could manage to establish a comfortable lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Salakjit started to play with precision. She played safe badminton by executing the strokes on the body of her rival and also played well at net.
Her strategy worked well and she managed to win the deciding game with a 21-17 score on the board.
Salakjit emerged as the winner of this fabulous rubber-set fight with a 21-11, 13-21 and 21-17 score on the board.
