German Open Grand Prix Gold: Wisnu Haryo Putro ousts Bjorn Seguin in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Italy’s Wisnu Haryo Putro started his campaign successfully as he defeated Bjorn Seguin of U.S.A. in Men’s Singles qualifying round of the German Open Grand Prix Gold on Tuesday, February 28, in Germany.
It was a wonderful contest between two upcoming shuttlers as both played fast badminton for three games.
However, it was the Italian who remained successful in winning the match in rubber games and advanced into the next stage of qualifying round.
Wisnu started his run in a quivering manner as he could not play positive badminton against the aggressive Bjorn, who was in complete control of rallies.
The Italian tried to play fast game by increasing his speed but failed to dictate the pace of rallies and remained trailing in the opening half of first game.
After the interval, Bjorn remained on track and did not lose his focus which helped him to dominate the game.
On the other hand, Wisnu played negative badminton and lost the opening set with a margin of 15-21.
In the second game, Wisnu entered into the court in a completely different mood as he played to his maximum potential and pushed his rival on the back foot. He put up superb show of attacking and composed badminton.
He was in control and did not commit any mistake in the opening half. Until the one-minute interval, he was miles ahead of his challenger.
After the break, Wisnu continued his aggressive play and bagged the second game with an incredible 21-6 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Wisnu dominated the pace of rallies from the starting points and dictated his rival in all corners of the court.
Until the break, the Italian was in strong position as he established a wonderful lead.
After the break, Wisnu did not let his opponent to play normal game as he continued disturbing the flow of Bjorn, who failed to take the bird early.
Wisnu remained on track and won the second set with a tremendous margin of 21-12.
The Italian emerged as the winner of this qualifying-round contest with a 15-21, 21-6 and 21-12 score on the board.
