We take a look at the German starlets who will be featuring in this month’s Championship.
Over the years Germany has produced amazing footballing talents who have now developed into world-class players. Players like Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer and Bastian Schweinsteiger are all Germany's youth products.
The Euro 2012 qualifying campaign saw Die Mannschaft win each of their 10 matches, scoring plenty of goals. Throughout the campaign their performances were nothing less than spectacular. Joachim Low used the campaign to develop
his country’s new generation of superstars.
With the European Championship only a few days away, Bettor.com takes a look at Germany’s brightest talents who will make the difference at the tournament.
Marco Reus
The 23-year old striker is one of DFB eleven’s three main strikers. Although the Borussia Dortmund bound striker is unlikely to start ahead of Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose but he possesses enough quality to help his team coming
off the substitutes’ bench.
At Borussia Monchengladbach last season the youngster scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists. The young striker is capable of playing as a lone front-man and Joachim Low himself confirmed that Reus could play as Germanys No 9.
Toni Kroos
The Bayern Munich youth product, who is being compared to his team-mate Schweinsteiger, was tremendous in this seasons UEFA Champions League. The 22-year old midfield dominated the play against Real Madrid.
Kroos established himself as an integral part of Joachim Low’s team that won all 10 of their matches in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. This tournament is the Bayern Munich midfielder’s first European Championship; so he will
be raring to fire his country to the European Glory.
Mario Gotze
The Borussia Dortmund starlet is the brightest of his country’s new generation of superstars. He broke into the German national team at a very young age. Gotze established himself as regular starter for the ‘Black Yellows’. The
20-year old possesses a powerful shot and racked up seven goals in just 19 appearances for his club.
He is being trailed by a host of major clubs including the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid. The Diminutive attacking midfielder is quick, has good dribbling skills due to his small stature and has excellent
vision. The German starlet is not likely to get the nod ahead of Podolski or Ozil, but he will surely light up the stage when called upon by his coach.
Mats Hummels
From these starlets the ‘Black Yellows’ centre-half is certainly the most experienced one. He broke into the first team in 2010-2011 season and never looked back. Hummels was part of the Borussia Dortmund backline that won two
consecutive Bundesliga titles and had the best defensive record in the domestic league. He will most certainly start for Germany ahead of Boateng and Mertesacker and is tipped as country’s best defender by his club’s sporting director.
These young talents have risen to prominence within a short span of time. Over the years Joachim Low has developed a reputation for giving young players a chance to display their talents on the big stage. World Cup 2010 in South
Africa saw German under-21 players such Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Sami Khedira star for their country.
Now it is time for these new graduates to kick it up a notch and do what previous batch of youngsters did i.e. establish themselves as regular starters for their country.
