German Rail Ticket - called Rhineland-Pfalz?

I've read about this train ticket called the Rhineland-Pfalz Ticket. All I know is it's like discounted travel for 2-5 people and you buy it at a train station machine. (I think Germany has similar types for different regions like Bavaria.)

Can anyone tell me how it works? Do i have to use it in one day? And how much will I spend for this ticket?
