  1. I don't know about which ones are the best but Alpine Village in or near Gardena has several restaurants.

It's not really a German restaurant but Karl Strauss restaurant has a slight German flair on some of their dishes.  Their feature is the micro brewery that has German based beers.  There is one in Universal City Walk.

I don't know if it is still open but Arnold Schwarzenegger's restaurant in Santa Monica is a nice Austrian restaurant, which is close.  I don't remember the name but it was on Main Street.

  2. The only German restaurant I know is the Red Lion Tavern on Glendale Blvd near the intersection with Silverlake Blvd. I don't know how good it is... but it's the only place I know in L.A. http://www.redliontavern.net/

    There's also Alpine Village... http://www.alpinevillage.net/

They have a pretty cool Oktoberfest every year... it's down in Torrance.

  3. not too many in LA, but there is  greta bakery in Downey called Streit German Bakery..

  4. There is Old Town in Huntington Beach, CA  It's a bit  south of LA and has Oktoberfest and genuine german food year round.  There's little shops and boutiques and apartments reminiscent of - well - see for yourself. Enjoy=)

There's another german type village on Beach Blvd in the city of Buena Park, I believe.  Might be Stanton?

  5. Red Lion is the only place I know of too...
