The tournament could be played in East Asia and the chief executives of the German clubs will have a meeting in September to talk about the possibility.
The German Super Cup may be shifted to Asia next year as the German Football League (DFL) wants to raise revenues due to the increased following of the competition. This campaign’s final will pip the UEFA Champions League finalists
Bayern Munich with the German Champions Borussia Dortmund.
The cup final will be telecasted in around 180 countries all over the world. The top officials of the clubs will consider the change of venue with the DFL chief Reinhard Rauball at the upcoming board conference in September.
Bayern chairperson Karl-Heinz Rummenigge supports the proposed plan and the CEO of the football league Christian Seifert suggested that the move is very realistic; the only hindrance can be if the clubs refuse to go with the plan.
"An edition of the Super Cup in China is possible. Only the clubs would need to go along with it," Seifert was quoted as saying in an interview.
Moreover, the decision to move the final to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926 is not unanimous and Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Heribert Bruchhagen has issued a statement saying that the Bundesliga sides need to be cautious of the benefits. He further added that
it is hard to determine the exact monetary rewards it will bring forward.
"It is difficult to assess what this move would bring us financially," he said.
Currently, the German League is raising €72 m from advertising and promotion and the profits have increased because of the increased interest in the league, following the impressive performances of Bundesliga teams in Europe. The
executive stressed that it is not fair to compete with the English Premier League.
"€72m from the international marketing for the Bundesliga alone is already a very impressive number; the revenues have been increased significantly by the DFL. It would be a mistake, comparing the Bundesliga with the Premier League
[which collects €300m in media rights] in this area," he concluded.
Italians have already started their Super Cup in China and as a result, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 could follow suit as soon as next season.
