German TV channels with subtitles?

Any German TV channels with English and German subtitles?

I have german and american tv channels including american sports....but....the only channel i see that has english subtitles are MTV and Viva.  however, Hitachi is making a tv that has a microchip in the remote control that will change any english speaking shows that are in german the language back to english....kinda cool huh?  wish they had this when i bought my big screen.....and i heard it has the option of subtitles

Otto's right; in Germany, even American movies are broadcast in a dubbed version, which makes it really hard for a foreigner to learn German by reading the subs on TV. All I can recommend is, get some DVDs with movies you like from/in Germany; there you have the option to watch it dubbed with subs, in both languages. Caution, U.S. DVDs won't work here in all players as they have a different regional code (RC1 instead of 2, which Europe has), and thanks to the R.I.A.A. and other companies like that, a U.S. DVD may not work here. (Those a bit savvy about computers, of course, know how to MAKE things work.) European "RC2" CDs, however, should work fine in the U.S.

btw, Otto, you say the Germans "love" everything dubbed... -- Well, I'm German, and I DON'T. Since the DVD was invented, I must have spent a fortune just to hear an actor's real voice.

Everything is dubbed! If you want to watch movies or TV series in the american original version you have to buy dvd! It´s awful and unnerving.

Unfortunately not.

The only one I know of is 'Deutsche Welle' which can only be seen from out of Germany, though...

The Germans love to watch everything dubbed. It's terrible, I know... ARD and ZDF sometimes show movies where one can choose between the original or the dubbed version. Sometimes they show movies with subtitles but that's rather rare... As far as I know, that's it.

ome of the movies /shows yocan select subtitiles with your remote it will tell you in the beginning of the movie/show.
