German Tkachenko confirms Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Anzhi’s Guus Hiddink – Football news
Anzhi Makhachkala general director, German Tkachenko, has confirmed that Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain approached the Russian Premier League club for the services of their current manager, Guus Hiddink.
“I got a call from Paris Saint-Germain. But why talk about it now? Hiddink will be with us for another year or maybe a lot more. I think this is enough information for all of us at the moment,” the Russian International was quoted as saying.
It was earlier reported that PSG have started negotiating with Hiddink over a potential move to Paris-based club. The Dutch tactician has been linked with a move to the French club following the likely departure of Carlo Ancelotti from Parc des Princes.
The former AC Milan and Juventus coach, Ancelotti, is reportedly interested in replacing Jose Mourinho at Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho left the Madrid-based club to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC earlier this month.
If speculations are to be believed, Manchester City also tried to lure Hiddink away from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 before PSG. However, Hiddink has ended any lingering anxieties after extending his current contract at the Makhachkala-based club.
Chairman of the Board of Directors at Anzhi, Konstantin Remchyukov, confirmed the extension of the agreement with the head coach.
“The old contract with Guus Hiddink has successfully been upgraded. Both sides exercise the old contract's option to their mutual satisfaction. I am glad,” Remchyukov wrote on his Twitter account.
The 66-year-old, who is particularly famous for helping the Russian national team in reaching Euro 2008 semi-final, signed a one-year contract yesterday.
Earlier, Hiddink said that his future will be determined after the Russian Cup final against CSKA Moscow at Terek Stadium (Grozny), which took place on June 1.
Though the future of the Dutch manager looked dull after Anzhi’s failure to win the domestic cup final, the Russian outfit managed to keep Hiddink for another season following the Wild-division’s third place finish on the league table last season.
Anzhi finished nine and eleven points behind runners-up Zenit St. Petersburg and Russian champions CSKA Moscow on the league table with 64 points.
