German World Championship Trials: Day 5 - Results
In the first swimming race on day five of the German World Championship Trials, Marco Di Carli set a new German record in the Men’s 100m freestyle final in Berlin, Germany, on June 4.
Di Carli earned gold medal in the 100m freestyle with a record time of 48.24 seconds. Previously, Paul Biedermann had the record in the corresponding meet with a sterling time of 48.39 seconds at 2009 FINA World Championships. More importantly, Di Carli
broke James Magnussen’s previous record of 48.29 seconds set in April, 2011.
Placed second in the Men’s 100m freestyle was Paul Biedermann with a time of 48.66 seconds, while Markus Deibler finished third in a time of 49.11 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m freestyle final, Britta Steffen of Germany claimed the golden crown with a winning time of 54.14 seconds. Meanwhile, Daniela Schreiber snared silver with a time of 54.74 seconds and Lisa Vitting finished with bronze in a time of 55.19
seconds.

Christian Vom Lehn topped the Men’s 100m breast-stroke final with a distinctive time of 1 minute and 00.51 seconds, while Hendrik Feldwehr hit the wall in 1 minute and 00.68 seconds for silver title. Johannes Neumann settled for bronze in 1 minute and 01.94
seconds.
In the Men’s 200m back-stroke, Yannick Lebherz snagged the gold medal with a winning time of 1 minute and 58.00 seconds. Jan-Philip Glania earned silver with a time of 1 minute and 58.46 seconds and Lucian Hasdenteufel grabbed bronze in 1 minute and 59.89
seconds.
The Women’s 200m back-stroke title was clinched by Jenny Mensing with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 10.21 seconds. Lisa Graf hit the wall in 2 minutes and 14.27 seconds for silver title and Paula Beyer finished third in a time of 2 minutes and 15.63 seconds.
In the Women’s 1500m freestyle final, Kathrin Demler claimed the golden crown with a sterling time of 17 minutes and 11.63 seconds. Meanwhile, Lena-Sophie Bermel earned second spot in 17 minutes and 19.02 seconds and Tina Appelt settled third in 17 minutes
and 25.49 seconds.
Sarah Poewe won the Women's 100m breast-stroke title with a winning time of 1 minute and 08.69 seconds, while Caroline Ruhnau wound up second in 1 minute and 09.44 seconds. Vanessa Grimberg settled third in 1 minute and 09.79 seconds.
The Men’s 400m medley-relay was won by Thomas Rueter, Hendrik Feldwehr, Jan David Schepers and Jan Konopka with a time of 3 minutes and 42.19 seconds. On the other hand, the Men’s 200m butterfly crown was snagged by Tim Wallburger with a winning time of
1 minute and 58.22 seconds, whereas, Franziska Hentke hit the wall in 2 minutes and 10.79 seconds to claim gold in the Women’s 200m butterfly meet.
Finally, the Women’s 400m medley-relay crown was captured by Deborah Gonschorek, Julia Willers, Theresa Michalak and Daniela Schreiber with a winning time of 4 minutes and 11.81 seconds.
