German beer drinkers; my new German brother in law gave me a 1litre Erdinger glass stein, what is the correct?

way to drink from it? I am only used to Belgian beer glasses or 1 pint glasses, which one lifts to the mouth and sips or gulps; is it the same with the larger stein? danke

Only fools gulp beer so it is not a concern for you.
