German duos impress on first day of action in Hague – Volleyball news
On the opening day of the 2012 CEV Men’s Beach Volleyball European Championship Finals, German duos played a total of four matches and finished the day with 3-1 record.
Top-ranked duo of Brink-Reckermann, 14th-seeded Klemperer-Koreng, and No. 4 Erdmann-Matysik proved their endeavours and clinched success. However, the 15th-seeded paring of Kaczmarek and Walkenhorst dropped the decision after a tough competition. Hence,
Germany three wins on day-1 of the tournament.
Beach of Scheveningen in Dutch city Hague provided the backdrop for the thrilling encounters.
The duo of Brink and Reckermann clashed with home pair of Rademaker and Oude Elferink in the opening match of the tournament. The visiting German tandem was equipped with all necessary tools and tricks of the game. They jumped out of the game and directly
started the hard hitting, which devastated the local team. The first set of the match ended at 21-10, while Brink-Reckermann were on top. The second set also came successful for guest duo. The Dutch pair scored 16 in the second set and lost the match in straight
sets, 0-2. German hotshots took only 36 minutes to bag victory.
The second German team, which consisted of Kaczmarek and Walkenhorst came into a close competition with Austria’s Huber and Seidl later in the day. The Germans had better ranking than the Austrian counterparts but still could not manage to dismantle their
power. The Austrian pair opened the match on a good note and secured the opening stanza with two points, 22-20.
Germans hit back in the following set and levelled the game score by posting 25-17. In the decisive third set, Huber-Seidl of Austria dominated the scene and ended with final score of 15-8 and won the match 2-1 in 53 minutes.
Germany’s Klemperer and Koreng opened the tournament by taking on Benes P.-Kubala of Czech Republic in the afternoon. They successfully managed to dismiss the opposite duo and added another victory to Germany’s tally. Better attack and solid defence enabled
Klempere and Koreng to down the rivals. The match decision was out in 34 minutes, while the set scores were 21-17 and 21-16.
Fourth-seeded tandem of Erdmann-Matysik from Germany collided with Turkish Sekerci-Gögtepe V. on the opening day of the 2012 CEV European Championship Finals. The match spanned over three tiring sets. In the opening set of the match scoring was very tight.
Turks came quick and went on front with first-set win, 22-20. Nonetheless, German pair controlled the operations of the game in following two sets and put an end to the tussle at the end of third set. They posted 21-19, 15-12 in the last two sets and won the
match.
