German help!!! What is the difference between "Lügen" and "Lügerei"? When I translate it I get "Lie".?

The sentence is ich hasse, ich hasse wenn du Recht behälst und deine Lügerei. Why isn't it.... Ich hasse wenn du Recht behälst und deine Lügen? And, what is the difference between Lügerei and Lügen?

lugen means "lie/lies". lugerei is the act of telling a lie "lying"

and when people repeatedly tell " luegen " than it is eine luegerei

"Lügen" means lies. "Lügerei" is the action of telling lies kinda like lie-telling (lying), only that's not really an English word.

In your sentence it could also be "Lügen" but by using "Lügerei" you emphasize the fact that you don't hate the lies but the person telling the lie and their action doing so.

'Lügen' is either the plural of 'Lüge' ('die Lügen') or the act of lying ('das Lügen')

I would say that "Lügerei" describes the bad habit of telling lies all the time. Usually you would even add an adjective like "deine ständige / ewige / (an)dauernde / ... Lügerei" to underline that you are talking about recurrent / constant behaviour.

Btw, "behältst" ends on "-tst" since the basic form is "hal>t<en" (but ~ 50% of native German speakers misspell it, too ;)
