German international Arne Friedrich has defended Ralf Rangnick’s decision to step down as Schalke manager. He claimed that it was a very courageous decision to make and that he has earned a lot of respect to come out and admit
that he has health issues. The defender wished the manager a speedy recovery and hoped that he could return to his duties in the future.

for him to continue in this situation as the health does not allow it.
Friedrich defended the manager’s decision to leave his post and wished him the best of luck for his recovery in the future. The player claimed that he has great respect for Rangnick and praised the former tactician’s step to come
out and openly admit that he cannot continue.
“Dear Supporters, at first I want to wish Ralf Rangnick all the best and a swift recovery from his illness. I want to express my deepest respect for his decision (to leave Schalke). It certainly was not an easy decision to make,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.

“I am aware that in recent days there were also rumours I have cancelled my contract with Wolfsburg due to this illness. This is what I want to deny. I feel well. I wish Wolfsburg all the best for the season and the best success
in the future,” he concluded.
Arne Friedrich made only 17 appearances for Wolfsburg in the previous season before he was released from his contract last month. The player also has 82 international caps to his name and has scored one goal.
