German national applying for UK provisional license?

I took a provisional license form today as I would like to start taking driving lessons soon. It says on the booklet that if you just arrived in the UK within 2 years you have to go to a local DVLA office so that they can sign your photo and fill in part 7 of the application for you. What documents do I have to bring?

  1. I would assume your passport and an official document with your address on it.

  2. A passport is excellent, as would be a birth certificate, any travel visa or work permit.  A utility bill such as gas, electricity or water bills, or better still, a council-tax bill.

In short, they are asking for proof of you identity, and proof of where you are living.

It may also be a good idea to take along a set of four identical (passport type) photographs.  It may speed things up a little, but if you haven't got any, they should be able to take your photo when you go to the office

If you can provide the proof they're looking for, you should be granted a licence without any problems.
