German national team manager Joachim Low predicts competitive Bundesliga season-Bundesliga news
German national team manager Joachim Low has predicted another eventful and competitive year in the Bundesliga. The boss refused to name any favourites for this year as he thinks there is more than one team that can challenge for
the title in the current campaign. He also hailed the German clubs for nurturing young talent over the past few years which has genuinely helped the national team.
Borussia Dortmund won the German league last year after a sensational campaign and this year promises to be another spectacle for the German fans. Bayern Munich are currently leading the standings table whereas Borussia Dortmund,
Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke closely follow the Bavarian giants.
Low claimed that Bayern are going through a purple patch and they will have a time in the season when they will lose. So it is hard to predict the winners at this point of the season. The manager believes that the Bundesliga, one
of the most competitive leagues in Europe, will be more exciting than ever this year.
“Not even a top team can be so solid that there are no weak periods during a campaign. I almost expect Bayern Munich to get defeated again. In terms of the Bundesliga trophy, I still believe this season will be thrilling,” he was
quoted as saying in an interview.
Die Mannschaft boss admitted that Jupp Heynckes’ side surely have a big chance to win the title but they will have to continue their form throughout the season and be consistent. He expects Dortmund to give Bayern tough competition
in the league this season and admitted that the likes of Schalke, Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder Bremen are also potential contenders.
“There are more teams than Bayern Munich with chances to win the trophy. Borussia Dortmund is back in second place at the moment. Some other potential candidates are not too far off,” the tactician concluded.
Bayern Munich are leading the league with 22 points and Dortmund are only three points behind in second place. Schalke are in third place whereas Bremen and Monchengladbach are five points adrift of the top spot.
