Germany confident ahead of 2011 FIVB World League match against Bulgaria – Volleyball
The new captain of the Men’s National Volleyball team of Germany, Robert Kromm, has the incredibly daunting task of leading his team to success at the 2011 FIVB World League, which is scheduled to run from May 27 to July 10. The skipper, who took over the
charge of German team from Andrae Bjorn for the 2011 edition of the FIVB World League has a very positive attitude before their first match.
Kromm shared his thoughts with media on Friday and talked about the team-line. He stated, "The mood is very positive. You can clearly see that everyone looks forward to the season after finishing with their clubs and returning to the national team. This
year was certainly less time to prepare for the World League, but the team is basically the same team as last year, and therefore the tactical interplay is already clear.”
Previously, the outside hitter (OH) Andrae Bjorn was leading the German team in the captain’s shoes. He supported his team at very crucial times but sadly he was ruled out due to acute probles with both his knees. This news hit the wire last week on Tuesday,
May 17. In the absence of Bjorn, the responsibility was shifted to Kromm’s shoulders.
Germany has been placed in Pool B along with teams from Russia, Bulgaria and Japan. In the first week, Germany is set to take on Bulgaria. The two teams will cross paths on Saturday in the opening match, while the second match will be featured on Sunday.
The German team will travel to the Bulgarian city of Varna for the first week matches. Afterwards, they will spend one-week in Russia and finally will head back to home courts.
Kromm said that his team has proved its credibility in front of the home audience and they will earn the same respect while playing away from home. He assured fans that they will once again put up an incredible show of volleyball.
Second week would be considerably tough for German team as they will meet the runner-up team of last year, Russia. German captain is optimistic that his team will cope with the power of the Bulgarian squad easily but Russia will surely give them a hard time.
In the third week, German squad will be equipped with stupendous support of local fans when they will clash with the Japanese team.
