Germany, Poland grab opening victories in Pool A of 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball Championship
Women’s Junior National Teams from Germany and Poland pulled off success in their opening matches of the second round of 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball Championship, which took centre stage on Wednesday, April 11.
A total of six teams installed their bases in Belarusian city Mogilev. In addition to Germany and Poland, teams from Latvia, host Belarus, Lithuania, and France are also playing in Pool A.
German ladies exhibited a stellar performance and finished the match in straight sets. They sent 25-12, 25-7, 25-15 on board and claimed victory against Latvia. On the other hand, the Polish squad also gave out a terrific performance and defeated French
team 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-16).
German team competed against Latvia with a strong team-line. The duo of AULENBROCK Carina and LANGGEMACH Juliane did amazingly well in the match and led Germany to a splendid win in only 57 minutes. Carina emerged as the top scorer of the match with 10 points,
while Juliane contributed match winning nine spikes.
Furthermore, LANGGEMACH and IZQUIERDO helped German side with 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Latvia made a good opening in the match and clipped a couple of early points. The team looked pretty pumped up and prepared for a hard knock until German musketeers hit back and broke their rhythm. Germans spent a little time to grasp the game plan of opponents
and then took the control of operations in hand. Latvia trailed behind and could not return in the game.
Germany closed first set with final score of 25-12 and match entered the next frame. Latvian team failed to sustain the pressure and totally collapsed in second set. They scored only 7 points, while Germans hit the mark with 25 points on board.
German team kept the pressure on Latvian squad in third set and did not allow them to come up. Eventually, match result was out at the end third set as Germany scored 25-15.
Elsewhere, Poland came into stride with France. The Polish team proved to be better in every aspect of the game and downed French rivals. The opening set of the match featured a balanced action. Poland picked up lead in the first half of the set and pushed
French attackers behind the line. France gave a good competition to Poles before the second technical break but Poland managed to claim opening set with seven-point margin (25-18).
Following the early set back, French team hit back aggressively in the second set. Polish team had a tough time to deal with the powerful cross-court shots of French players.
Nonetheless, Poland fought bravely and improved to 2-0 by winning another set. Third set was all about Poland as French team became irresistible. Poland easily won the match after capturing third set in row.
