Germany Under-19s v Norway Under-19s- European Under-19 Championship Division Two- 9th Place play-off- Match Recap
In bottom of the bottom clash of the European Under19 Championship Division Two, Norway came up convincing winners by 125 runs against Germany, played at the Mullen-e-Cloie, St John’s on 2nd August, 2011.
It was Mosawar Ahmad seven-star performance that did the trick, bamboozling the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904 batting line-up with some eye-catching bolwing.
In the 9th place pay-off, it was the Norwegian who batted first making a substandard total of 182 in 41.5 overs.
In reply it was a sorry state for the German’s, who were bundled out for a meager 57. It left them without a win in the tournament as they crashed out with yet another disappointment.
When the Norwegian came out to bat, the start was appalling as the first ball of the match saw them losing opener Ajaib to Leonard Gerhards.
Innings best partnership followed for the second wicket between Abidul Haq and Junaid Mehmood. Both put on 52 before German skipper introduced Oliver Filby into the attack with immediate impact.
He took four in a row, starting with Haq, whose stumps were shattered. The batsman played a cameo of 31 off just 16 balls, which included four boundaries.
The 16-year-old had another two in quick succession before taking an excellent caught and bowled chance to remove Mehmood for 27. That left http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Norway-c2974 half down, having just put 72 on the board.
Though the batting side continued to lose wickets, the late order chipped in with quick runs which helped the team post 182. The notable contribution came from top-scorer, Ali http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-c78728. He made a brisk 37 with the help of four cracking boundaries.
Apart from Filby, the bowling came good for the Germans as all chipped in wickets to dismiss the opponents before their full quota of overs.
Chasing 183, Germany never came remotely close to the target, with only two batters making 12. It was Mosawar Ahmed show all the way, as he ripped the upper, middle, lower order at will to register seven wickets to his name.
5 of his wickets were clean bowled, leaving the batting side shell shocked.  Only skipper, Steven Richards and Mansor Mubarik could reach the double figure mark, as both made 12.
An embarrassing outing had two other wicket-takers, with Haq and Mehmood grabbing a scalp each, while the latter also showed great agility, a direct hit to dismiss Mubarik.
In the end Germans were crushed in just 24.2 overs, handing their opponents a resounding victory by 125 runs.
Both sides had been pretty much outplayed in the tournament by the other team in the competition. However, it was a learning curve for either team, with both hoping to comeback strongly next time.
As for now, Norway finishes ninth at the expense of their counterparts.
