  1. no, rather not! :-) THE GERMANS DON'T SEEM TO LIKE US!

  2. What, because they've both elected crypto-fascists?

  3. Well, in our house, German-American relations are just fine and dandy --- I'm American, my husband is German, and our son is half-and-half.

  4. Cool I hope to receive more support from Germany in the future.

  5. I visited Germany back in 2005 and found it to be a friendly country.  I hope to be able to go back someday and visit more of it.  (Plus my dad's side of the family is German, and I hope to find out more of where we came from)

  6. I think they are soul friends.  I lived for 4 years in Berlin, before the wall fell, and have been back several times.  I was welcomed with open arms, and I would always welcome my German family with open arms.

    Ich liebe dich deutsche Leute!!

  7. There is a difference between Germany/USA and Germans and Americans. The citizens of both countries will not have any problems getting along with each other.

The relationship between Germany and USA was disturbed by USA invading Iraq, when Ex chancelor Schroeder said: NO. But - Angela Merkel is doing her best to work it out again.

I still consider Germany being a friend of the USA, It's like in a marriage. Just because you have your ups and downs it does not mean that the marriage isn't not good. Problems are there to be worked out and not to break up.

  8. I don't think so, because I frecuently hear that the German people mean, the gringos are superficial.  And from gringos, who live in Germany I heard, that the German

    people are not very friendly.

Maybe it is only the Cultural schock, because we can find all kind of people everywhere.

(About the word "gringo", it´s just difficult for me to call them americans, because I am from the american continent too, and I don´t mean the whole countries).

  9. Germany loves all things American - most of the English influence into the German language will have come via the States and not via Great Britain.

This stems originally from Woodrow Wilson wanting a much less harsh treaty for the Germans at Versailles, with David Lloyd-George from Britain wanting one a bit harsher, and France wanting an even harsher one. However to be fair, Britain and especially France suffered an enormous amount of casualties compared to those lost by the USA.

Then, throughout the years of divide, East Germany associated the USA with the ultimate political freedom - to those living under communist rule in East Germany, the "American Dream" was something to really aspire to, and with western music banned, many young people in East Germany grew up desperate to listen to these banned bands like the Rolling Stones and American bands too.

America was the global symbol of popular culture during the 80s, and again, this is something that Germany aspired to.

Therefore, the deep friendship between these two nations stems from the end of the second world war, but has grown and strengtheded over time.

If only all countries got on this well!

I hope this answers your question,

    Andy :-)

  10. Germany was our 'friend' back when the USA was protecting them during the cold war. They don't seem to be our friend anymore even though they are probably not capable of protecting themselves.

  11. You must mean Israel and USA.

  12. I would like to think so.
