Germany beats Algeria by 3-0 in a FIVB World Cup match: Volleyball news
Germany and Algeria were matched up against each other in a FIVB World Cup match that took place today, November 11, in Okayama, Japan. The Germans dominated the Algerian squad at Momotaro Arena by 3-0.
Not only did the Germans manage to win the match in three back to back sets, they did so by smothering their opponents and sealing the deal on the match at the following final set scores: 25-10, 25-8 and 25-19.
The coach of the German team, Giovanni Guidetti, expressed himself in the following manner at the press conference after the match reached its close: “I think tonight was an important day for us because we made changes to give some players a rest. The players
who played today played with good motivation and I want to give a big hand to those players. It’s important to help each other – and we took three points.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Algerian team, Ahmed Boukacem, shared his feelings in the following manner: “I want to congratulate Germany on their win. We played pretty well against a strong team, especially in the third set. We tried our best but
couldn’t get the result. In our remaining matches we want to improve our level.”
Anne Matthes of Germany was able to get her hands on the Most Impressive Player award as she stood out by being the top scorer on her team after registering a total of 17 points. Regina Burchardt of Germany also kept the pressure on her opponents by putting
up 14 points of her own. Both Matthes and Burchardt were assisted by their teammate Christiane Furst who added 12 points to her side of the score board. On the other hand, the most active player on the Algerian side was Faiza Tsabet who managed to top the
scorers on her team by putting up five points, which was a failed effort to be strong on the attack.
