Germany defeats Argentina 3-0 in a FIVB World League match – Volleyball news
A Pool D match of the FIVB World League took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. The two teams that played against each other were Germany and Argentina. The match was being played at the Arena Armeec where a total of 300 spectators had come to watch the show by the
end of which Germany had gotten itself a win by sweeping Argentina and moving to within one point of qualifying for the final round of the tournament.
Germany ended the match in an hour and 15 minutes at the following final set scores: 25-16, 25-21 and 25-21.
The coach of the German team, Vital Heynen, expressed his delight with the match by making the following comments, “We played good, especially at the beginning. Of course, I`m happy because we`re coming closer to the Finals, which is our actual goal.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Argentinean side Juan Manuel Barrial shared his disappointment at the loss in the following manner, “We played bad at the first set and we had problems. They were better than us and the logical thing was to win. We are
thinking of giving this players more experience next two matches.”
The highest scoring player of the match was Georg Grozer of Germany who kept the pressure on his opponents by putting up a total of 20 points. On the other hand, the player who tallied the highest points for Argentina was Ivan Castellani with a score of
13.
The Germans started off the first set of the match in a strong manner and it took no time for them to overpower their opponents. The integral role in the strong game of the German squad was played by their superior serving which was giving the Argentineans
a hard time to break. Therefore, the Argentineans fell to making errors while the Germans swiftly moved towards an opening set win at 25-16.
The Argentineans were able to step up their game a notch in the second set which helped them to keep the score close for the most part. However, Germany still grabbed themselves the advantage and once they had the lead, they did not let Argentina overtake
them at any point in the set. As a result, the second set too ended in favour of the Germans at 25-21.
The Argentineans tried to fight back in the third set in order to avoid a clean sweep and give themselves a winning chance in the match but the onslaught of the Germans proved to be too strong for Argentina. Germany took the lead early on in the third set
and kept extending their advantage with the Argentineans trailing all the way behind. Germany sealed the deal on the third set of the game at 25-21.
