Germany sweeps Romania in CEV volleyball fixture in prelims
A CEV Volleyball Champions League match took place between Remat ZALAU of Romania and the German squad of vfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN. The german squad dominated and outclassed the Romanian squad by 3-0.
The two teams met each other in the preliminary round of the tournament and found themselves in Pool B of the championship. The match took place in Friedrichshafen, Germany, with a total of 2,500 people watching the two teams make a show of their skills.
The German squad celebrated with their home fns after scoring: 25-22, 25-16 and 25-17.
The coach of the winning team, Stelian Moculescu, expressed himself in the following words after his team had won the match: “Focused on the Volleyball techniques we played a very, very, very good match. ZALAU never found an answer to our action”.
On the other hand, the coach of the ZALAU squad, Mariusz Sordyl, shared his views by giving the following statements: “It was a lucky first set for FRIEDRICHSHAFEN. And during the second and third set we did not find back our way and made too many mistakes.
One good set is not enough against a team like FRIEDRICHSHAFEN”.
The entire length of the match was not more than 70 minutes in which the Germans remained the stronger side. Both the attack as well as the defence of the Germans proved to be better than their opponent’s. The total number of aces that the German side was
able to pull off was eight in the entire match.
The first set of the match started off with both the teams coming out strong and staying close to each other. No one was sure where the tables would turn until the very end of the set when the Germans were able to put on a spurt of speed and secure themselves
the first set. The loss of the opening set did not sit too well with the Romanians and they lost steam in the second set and gave it up to their opponents, who also won the third frame.
