Germany takes over the Race of Champions Nations cup
The Race for the Champions Nations Cup takes place every year after the Formula 1 season comes to an end. The tournament takes place in Dusseldorf for two days and features some of the best drivers the sport has to offer. Alain Prost took part in this year’s
Nation’s cup for France but it seemed that Germany’s team was just too good with this year’s world champion alongside the 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher.
The duo clinched the title for a fourth time consecutively, after defeating Great Britain at the final. The Race of Champions features one on one races. The tournament moved to Germany for the first time this year.
Michael was victorious over Jason Plato in the inaugural race but his teammate Vettel was unable to take the win over Andy Priaulx. Race of Champions takes place in their own official cars. Michael was able to take over Priaulx during his race with him by
just 0.6s after a tough race.
In this tournament, drivers from every motorsport can take part in this tournament including World Rally championship, GP2, etc. France was represented by Sebastian Loeb and Alain Prost but they were unable to advance into the finals after they were defeated
by Great Britain. Heikki Kovalainen and Tom Kristensen represented Team Nordic but they were unable to progress in to the finals as they were eliminated by team France on a tie-break. Heikki was able to win all 3 of his races while his teammate lost all three
of his.
However, it was an interesting tournament and it was quite interesting to see the best drivers competing in a single tournament. Since the Formula 1 season recently came to an end, the drivers are now going to go through a number of tests in order to secure
the best package for 2011.
The main individual Race of Champions contest takes place Sunday afternoon.
