  1. I agree with the guy above.  I lived in Germany for several years and it was a blast once I was old enough to travel on my own.  Paris is NOT what everyone thinks of, but you should go anyway, just to say that you've been.  Holland is cool.  I worked for a fashion designer from there and had to visit her home office a few times.  Actually any country is cool to go to.  You're not that far from Italy if your down south and you're not that far from England if you're up north.  If you're going to be there in October, go to Dr. Frankenstein's castle for Halloween.  They throw a huge thing there.  Not very scary, but it's still cool to walk around the remians of the castle.  The Rhein river has a "Rhein-a-Flame" thing where they "set the river on fire", put up red and different color lights and you go on a dinner cruise.  Pretty amazing, especially since you ride by the castle that inspired Cinderalla's castle.  If you're going to be there over Christmas you HAVE to go to a Christmas market.  I miss those so much!!!  TONS of stuff to do!

    Have fun!

  2. with the exchange rate over here good luck!  but of course you have to see Frankfurt and Berlin and it depends if you want to travel out side of Germany they have so many places to travel just do your home work, hope you studied the language

  3. you must visiting Berlin and Potsdam. That´s great city`s.There you could visiting the german parlament, the siegessäule, the palace of sansouci, the formals checkpoint charly with the museum of these checkpoint,The Kurfürsten avenue.Hamburg is great too with their harbour.A lot of tourists visiting the Reeperbahn there. Now in Hamburg is a museum for the people who imigrate to the usa in the last century. Some german descendant from the USA could see where their family come from.Bavarian have have some nice places.

  4. Steve, being in Berlin for 5 or 6 weeks will be exciting enough altogether. Now I don't say that Berlin is Germany; but it's one of the best places to be, and 5 or 6 weeks would be just enough for a holiday trip to discover the German capital, not to talk about the rest of Germany with its multiple cultural areas.

I lived and worked in Berlin for seven years and still can't say that I know all of it. You'll find Berlin to be a very peaceful town with excellent public transport, even in the night hours. I think they're best in Europe.

I always hesitate as to give recommendations what one should see. Get to know some people, and they'll tell you what's on their schedule. Join in when you're invited.

  5. Tell us WHERE you're going to stay and we'll be able to tell you WHAT to see.

Petrol is much more expensive than in the USA (in case you're from there).

So let us know which area you're staying and you'll expect more specific answers.

  6. You should definitely travel around on weekends. European countries are a lot smaller than the US, so you could visit the surrounding countries as well. If you never been to Europe before, then obviously you have to do Paris and probably Amsterdam.

  7. Where you go depends a lot on transportation.  It would be nice to know just where in Germany.  To the western side of Germany you can go to France or the BeNeLux countries.  If you are in the east you can go to Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic.  To the South there is Austria, Italy, Switzerland.

Lichtenstein is in the area of France and Switzerland.  Try just looking around in Germany for a bit.  It is a fantastic country.

Traveling just might involve trains (great way to go) because if you think U.S. gas is high,,  You ain't seen nuttin yet.  The gas prices in Europe will make you wet your pants!!!
