Germany striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 has targeted 2014 FIFA World Cup as the moment when he will draw curtains on his international football career. The player also aims to break Gerd Muller’s world record for most number of goals for Germany during the upcoming
Euro 2012 championship.
The striker was talking ahead of Germany’s upcoming Euro qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026, scheduled to take place on Friday, October 7. Klose is confident of making it into Joachim Low’s starting XI with Mario Gomez certain to accompany him upfront.
The former Bayern Munich striker believes that he could go all the way until the 2014 World Cup despite falling out of his manager’s contention in recent times.
The player is also determined to break Gerd Muller’s world record of 68 goals for his country and is currently six strikes adrift of the tally. The veteran striker praised the former international for his free scoring abilities and vowed to achieve the feat
during the upcoming European tournament.
While talking to local newspaper about his future plans, the 33-year-old further added, "I want to break the record with the national team now. We want to win all 10 qualifying matches and then I will speak with the coach about my future. I am a spontaneous
person and I make my decision about when I retire from my gut feeling. But for as long as I am enjoying myself and am free of injury, then I want to keep playing."
He also talked about the prospects of his limited opportunities, saying:
"I never have fear. It is all down to me anyway - when I am fit, I will play. And I am feeling really good."
Klose has so far made 112 international appearances for the German national side since earning his international debut in 2001. The striker has 62 goals under his belt from those games until now.
Klose is a part of Germany’s squad for the two upcoming qualifiers and is likely to make the cut in Low’s final 23 for the Euro 2012.
