Hi, I am attempting to germinate some Giant Sequoia seeds. If anyone out there in Yahoo Answers has ever germinated some of those seeds, how did you do it and how high/how many seedlings did you get from doing that method?

  1. I know this can be a tricky thing to do. Those seeds need to be put in an incubating environment that maintains the same temperature over the course of weeks if not months. Each species of pine or spruce has a specific required temperature. I once came upon a table in a search on the internet years ago but not sure if Redwoods were on that list. You should do some reseach at the university of Idaho which has a public resource on line including a seedling nursery for public sale perhaps they sell Redwood seedlings cheap. Here is a link to their site.
