I have to design a method on the germination of bean seeds and i would like someone to correct my investigation if wrong

Hypothesis:Bean seeds grown better without water

1)Place 4 plates with a bean cell in each

2)Number each plate 1 to 4

3)Place a swab of cotton wool over each bean seed and place it on a window sill.

4)Water plant 1 and 4 daily, water plant two every second day and do not water plant 3.

5)When the plumule /stem starts growing record the height for a period of seven days.

6)On the 7th day compare the growth of each bean seed and state whether your hypothesis is true or false.

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE

DEPENDENT VARIABLE

  1. You independent variable should be "water".  You are controlling the amount of water you add to each treatment, so it is independent of the observed response.

Your dependent variable is correct "growth".  Stem growth is a response to the amount of water you add, so it is dependent on the amount of water added.

Fixed variables (or controlled variables) are sunlight and the cotton wool (they could potentially affect stem growth, but they are the same for all treatments).

The bean seeds are your experimental subjects.
