Liverpool captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 went on to praise Joe Allen for making an immediate impact at Anfield, and tipped him to become the future Reds star.
The Merseyside outfit claimed the signature of the talented midfielder this summer, from Swansea City, for an estimated transfer fee of 15 million pounds.
After making his Premier League debut on the 18th of August at the Hawthorns, the 22-year old impressed everyone with his scintillating performance against the current title holders, Manchester City, on Sunday.
He was voted as the best player of the match by the fans and the journalists following the game.
The Liverpool stalwart felt that Allen’s performance against the Eastlanders was just the beginning of something much more special to come. He hailed the midfielder’s sound possession retaining technique, and the quickness with which he accustomed himself
to the culture of football at Anfield.
The 32-year old is reported to have said, “When you make big-money signings people expect it to take time to settle in. You naturally give them that bit of time but it seems like Joe has cruised in and settled in really, really well.”
“If he can keep performing to the level he is then I think we've found ourselves a player.”
Commenting on the City game, Gerrard admitted he was disappointed to see his team fail to secure all three points, but nevertheless, commended their fighting spirit.
He underscored that it was essential they bounced back from their opening day disappointment at the Hawthorns, and it was exactly the kind of response that he was looking for.
“From Pepe [Reina] up to Luis [Suarez], everyone performed well. We're really pleased. If we can use that as a benchmark for our performances moving forward I think we can do really well,” he added.
