Liverpool skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, admitted his side were currently short of confidence, but insisted that the results did not depict the performance that they have put up so far.
The talismanic midfielder also observed that the Reds prime problem at the moment was their inability to secure wins at their own backyard. He also said that they will need to improve on that score if they are to meet their targets for this campaign.
The Merseyside outfit are currently sitting in the fourteenth spot in the table, having bagged just six points out of their first 7 games.
What has been particularly worrisome for them has been their home form, which has already seen them suffer three defeats so early in the season. They are yet to record their first league win at Anfield this term.
Although the English International confessed to his team’s failures over the last couple of months, he insisted that they have been a touch unfortunate.
He said that the Reds had put up remarkable performances even in the games which they lost, and they were finding it difficult to close out the matches.
“In the vast majority of our Premier League games this seasons, we have felt that our performances have been better than the results suggest,” he told the reporters.
“Quite rightly the only concern for people is getting the points and some of our results haven’t been that good enough.”
Liverpool, who are playing with a different playing style this season under Brendan Rodgers’ supervision, have dominated games at times without being able to secure the results.
Although Gerrard admitted that it was a frustrating feeling, he stated that at the end of the day, it is just a win which matters in football, and they will need to find a way to overcome this conundrum.
“It’s not enough to just create good chances – you have to take them too. If we can continue to do that we’ll soon move up the table,” he added.
