Liverpool skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, is wary of the fact that he may not realise his dream of winning a Premier League title, but vowed to keep on fighting for it.
The English International, who has won multiple accolades during his stay at Anfield, is yet to the lift the EPL trophy.
His side came agonizingly close to claiming one, back during the 2008-09 season, but ended up four points short of winners, Manchester United.
Since then, the 32-year old has seen his team spiral downwards, failing to even secure a Champions League berth in their next three terms.
Their task has become even more difficult now, with the likes of Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 emerging as mighty Premier League forces over the last couple of years.
Keeping in view the current state of affairs at Anfield, Gerrard confessed that it was not likely that the Reds would win a title over the next few years.
The midfielder was of the opinion that the days when the title race used to be between United, Liverpool and Arsenal are long gone, and the competition was increasingly becoming more competitive.
Liverpool last won the league way back in 1990.
“It will be a miracle if I now realise my dream of winning the title with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“I say that because of my age and where we finished in the league the past couple of years. And also the situation we're in with the rivalries. There's not just United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 now but City, Chelsea and Tottenham.”
Nonetheless, Gerrard revealed that the team’s prime objective was to re-claim their place in Champions League football.
Having finished eighth in the previous term, the Liverpool skipper insisted that they need to set realistic aims for the current season and feels that they are in with a good chance of breaking into the top-four.
“If this season goes well, we get a bit of luck and improve, we have an outside, no, a 50-50 chance of being in the top four. That's being realistic. It's achievable,” he added.
The Reds are currently sitting in the fourteenth spot in the table.
