Gerrard and Roben signings causing uproars
The season ended at La Liga with rivalry saturating instead of dissolving. Barcelona claimed the title while Real Madrid came to a close second. Both teams are now looking for players that would give them the edge in the next season. The issue has sparked up even more due to the arrival of José Mourinho at Real.
Therefore both teams are claiming and making bids on world-class players all around the block. On a similar note there are heavy rumours that the French star Thierry Henry is advancing to another journey in his life; planning to join an American club. This would leave the Catalans left wing open and in need of another aced experience player.
Valencia’s Juan Mata is top on the list but Los Che has made it clear that he doesn’t want to sell anymore stars from his club. Just recently David Silva and David Villa made a move out of Valencia to Barcelona.
The other person on top of the list is Arjen Robben. If this signing happens there will be a lot of conspiracy as Roben originally was transferred from Real at €25 million due to lack of performance. But since then there have been steady steps of brilliance by him having helped in their home league, Bundesliga and then to attain runner-up position in the Champions League.
It is expected that Barcelona will have to use all its force to sign in this deal. His performance and tactics as the Pep Guardiola considers perfect for the ‘Nou Campers’. Bayern Munich in response will indeed prove difficult to part from their prized Dutchman and it is expected that they will talk about it in no less than €40 million which as a matter of fact is quite reasonable.
Another controversial signing at hand by Barcelona is of Cesc Fabregas. The Spanish star is presently with Arsenal who is refusing to let him go. The Catalans have made the North Londoners a €30 million offer which they have bluntly refused. The situation got out of hand when their coach Arsene Wenger continued to protect Fabregas’s stay at Arsenal while Fabregas himself made a statement about his move saying that he wanted to leave.
The situation is now pretty calm, comparatively with both of them having a talk and in the end the Spanish star concluded trusting Wenger and making his decision final after the FIFA World Cup.
On the other fields; the man at the Bernabeu hot-seat has full autonomy in order to rebuild himself a squad for the next season. The smug Mourinho is making claims all over the place and has named a list of special few that he would be really aiming at apart from the rest. It includes many famous players including Gerrard, Lampard, Militio, Maicon, A. Cole, J. Cole and Drogba to name a few.
Still, the person on top of his list happens to be Steven Gerrard. It’s well known that he has a long crush on the Liverpool skipper. Even when he was at Chelsea he made constant hits on the Liverpool skipper only to be severely disappointed by his non-arrival.
Now after the Blue’s departure he hasn’t forgotten the Red’s star. The ‘Chosen One’ is on the look all over the market, scouting for players to help guide the Merengues to their first Champions League trophy since 2002.
Gerrard has represented Anfield all his life; a lifetime which is full of great examples of loyalty. Even the club’s logo indicates ‘You’ll never walk alone’, which he has passionately repeated over time. It will be a great combat to see which side Gerrard chooses in the end.
His decision might heavily rely on Liverpool’s coach Rafael Benitez. If Rafa decides to stay then Gerrard might think of making the move as behind him Rafa will stand as a figure head for the club.
This is certain that there will be some selling of players by Liverpool but for the new squad they need funds and the funds which are available are too small an amount.
