Liverpool skipper, Steven Gerrard, has urged his side not to panic following their dismal start to the campaign, insisting that the season had only just started.
Even though the Merseyside club have introduced scores of changes in the entire set up, not much seems to have changed in terms of their results from the previous term. In their bid to make up for their shock eighth-place finish, the Reds have gotten off
to a worst possible start, managing just a single point out of their first three games.
Last Sunday, they were humbled 2-0 at their own citadel by a rampant Arsenal team. The defeat only served to mount more pressure on the new Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, who is currently facing the music for not landing in a replacement for Andy Carroll
this summer.
Liverpool sent the English International out on loan to West Ham United close to the transfer deadline date. It was expected that the club will sign a striker as his surrogate, with Fulham’s Clint Dempsey appearing in the reports as the favourite candidate.
However, the Reds emerged from the transfer deadline day empty handed. The weakness in their frontline was quite manifest against the Gunners, and posed question marks over the team’s ability to mount a challenge for a top-four place this season.
Things might be appearing gloomier for many, but not for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196. The Reds inspirational skipper refused to be downbeat after their poor start, and believed that making predictions about the team after just three games was senseless.
“When you're not winning football matches it's tough. But when you have my kind of experience, you don't panic after three games,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“We were fantastic against Manchester City and should have won. Against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 it was the opposite.”
The 32-year old was also confident that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 were heading in the right direction under the proficient management of Rodgers, and feels that they can go on and achieve their targets for this season.
“It's been a tough few weeks but it's not the time to panic. We can still take the club forward,” he added.
