Liverpool skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, has urged the fans to keep their faith in Brendan Rodgers, despite the Reds worst start to a league campaign in more than 100 years.
The Merseyside outfit were forced to settle for a stalemate against Sunderland on Saturday evening, which kept them entrenched in the bottom half of the table.
So far, they have only managed to secure 2 points out of their first 4 league games – a stat which smashed their record of the worst start to a season in almost a century.
Earlier, the men in red suffered defeats against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and West Bromwich Albion and held on Manchester City for a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Even though he saw his side go into the record books for all the wrong reasons, the Liverpool stalwart believes it was too early to press the panic button.
The 32-year old spoke out in favour of the Northern Irishman, and called upon the fans to show more patience with him.
Liverpool fired Kenny Dalglish from the management post following the Reds toilsome previous campaign, which saw them finish eighth in the league table.
Rodgers, who enjoyed stupendous success at Swansea City, was handed over the Anfield throne in June, as the club set out with the aim of reversing the dismal state of affairs at Anfield.
“It depends how quickly we get the message the manager is trying to give,” Gerrard told the reporters.
“We know it won’t happen overnight, but you saw today that it won’t be long before it does.”
It has been an emotional week for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, who earlier saw the Hillsborough Investigation Panel clear the club’s fans from the blame of the tragic stadium accident which occurred in 1989.
Gerrard admitted that a win on Saturday could have served to further cheer the fans, after the findings of the Hillsborough investigation team.
“It would have been nice to take the three points after the week we’ve had, but it wasn’t to be,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, was adamant that his side’s dismal stats in the preliminary stages of the season were not a true reflection of their performances.
He claimed that they have shown marked improvement with each passing game, and they will be on the top of things very soon.
