The Liverpool skipper has admitted that his side has been inconsistent throughout the course of the season and rued missed opportunities
Liverpool and Everton played a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the English Premier League as the home side missed a good chance to close in the gap on their city rivals. The Reds were without star striker Luis Suarez, who is out with a
10-game ban after he bit an opponent in the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 stated that Everton have improved a lot as a team in the last few years. He insisted that the opponents have had a great season this term and is impressed by their form during the course of this season.
The skipper claimed that his team had most of the chances and admitted that Liverpool should have won the game. The home side had some clear cut chances to seal the game but the attackers failed to convert any of the opportunities.
“Everton have improved a lot. Although we are disappointed not to get three points - we've lacked cutting edge against the bigger sides this season. We limited http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 to very few chances today and since he's come back into our
team I think Jamie [Carragher] has been our most consistent player,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 claimed that his side had some great opportunities. He admitted that probably a draw was a fair result for both teams. Carragher played the last Merseyside derby of his career as he is set to
retire at the end of the season. The veteran defender will be taking on the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 of a pundit at Sky Sports after he retires.
“It wasn't to be and I think a draw is a fair result. It was a tense derby with not many chances at either end. It was a good day, I would have liked to have won the derby but at least we didn't lose,” he concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will be taking on Fulham in an away game this weekend. The Reds will be looking to claim all three points to end the season on a high.
