http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 labelled the brand of football that was on display from Andy Carroll during the closing stages of the previous season as ‘unplayable’, and was optimistic he will be able to carry his sublime form in the
European Championships.
The 23-year old striker has remained in the headlines since his acrimonious 35-million pounds transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool in January last year, making him the most expensive English player in history.
Since his arrival at Merseyside, the English International failed to prove his mettle firing only 11 goals in 56 appearances for the Reds. However, he was seen in scintillating form right at the death of the 2011/12 campaign, playing a crucial hand in the
Reds progress in the FA Cup competition.
With Euro 2012 scheduled to kick-off from the 8th of June, Gerrard expressed his admiration for the burly striker and believed he could be the key in the Three Lions bid to end their major cup hoodoo.
He heaped praise on Carroll for hitting the top gear at the end of the season and felt he was at times virtually unplayable.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Domestically Andy [Carroll] probably didn't want the season to end, because he hit top form and became unplayable for us in those final games.”
England won their two friendly matches against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850, both by the same margin (1-0), leading up to the glamorous European tournament. Carroll impressed with his performance against the Norwegian team, setting up a goal for the Manchester United
player Ashley Young and also came inches close of netting one himself from a header.
In the game against Belgium, the England manager Roy Hodgson paired him up alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 upfront and in Wayne Rooney’s absence, the Englishman is expected to retain the same combination during the Three Lions opening match of the tournament against

Gerrard, a veteran of 92 international appearances for England, felt that his side will be in with a good chance of making waves in the Euros if Carroll is able to carry his notable form late on in the season into the competition.
He remarked, “Everyone is focused here now on England and the whole country, myself included, will be hoping that Andy can bring his form from Liverpool into the international set-up.”
So far, Carroll has represented the Three Lions in 4 games since making his senior team debut in November 2010. His lone goal during this period came in a 1-1 draw in a friendly match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 in March 2011.
