The Uruguayan International’s comments came after the Reds 3-0 triumph over Wigan Athletic at home on Saturday.
Earlier this month, Gerrard capped his 600th appearance for the Merseyside outfit in a league match against Newcastle United. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and Liverpool skipper is considered by many as the greatest Reds player of all times and is respected by
his fans and opponents alike.
The 25-year old striker, who himself arrived at Anfield from the Dutch side Ajax in January 2011, expressed his commendation for Gerrard’s unblemished Liverpool career.
He said that to play 600 games for a top-flight team like Liverpool was a remarkable feat, and yet, he is one of the most humble and down to earth athletes in the Premier League.
“He's a real legend at this club, for many reasons; the time he's been at the club, for all what he has given for the club, for the great teammate he is, for all the years and all those 600 games he's played here, which is by no means an easy thing to achieve
at a club like Liverpool, and for his modesty and the classy person he is,” he told the club’s official website.
Although the midfielder has won scores of accolades during his stint at Anfield, he is yet to hoist the league title. Earlier, in the 2000’s, he was pursued by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and rivals Manchester United, where he could have gone on to fulfil his title dream. However,
he turned down their overtures out of his loyalty for the Reds.
Suarez may not be fully cognizant of the club’s history and the list of Anfield legends, but he was certain about one thing i.e. Gerrard was the best midfielder that he had ever played with.
“Has always remained here out of his love for the club, and for me he is the best midfielder I've ever seen play or been able to play alongside,” he added.
The 32-year old has made 602 appearances for the Reds in total and has bagged 152 goals during this period.
