Liverpool skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 believes that the Reds are heading for an ‘exciting new era’ under their newly appointed manager Brendan Rodgers.
The English International recently made a return to the squad, after completing his four-week break since the conclusion of the Euro 2012 competition. He is expected to feature in the Reds remaining two games against AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur during
their current North American tour.
Talking to a press conference, the talismanic midfielder revealed that he was exciting about embarking on a new journey under the former Swansea City boss, and vowed to play his part in the manager’s effort to wriggle the club out of their current slump.
Liverpool finished the league table at eighth position last season, and consequently missed out on a place in the Champions League football for the third successive season.
Gerrard told the reporters, “It's an exciting new era for the players. We've been looking in from our holidays and hearing what the manager has been saying, what his vision is and what his targets are. All we can do is give him our full support.”
Even though the 32-year old admitted his side’s shortcomings in the league during the previous campaign, he insisted that all was not gloomy at the club, citing their impressive run in the domestic cup competitions.
Rodgers, who made a switch from Swansea to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 last month, brought with him some of the members of his coaching staff at the Liberty Stadium. According to some sources, he is also close to signing the Swans midfielder Joe Allen, as he looks to re-build
a Swansea-like model at Anfield.
Besides that, the 39-year old has also acquired the services of striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, who had earlier spent a brief loan spell at the Welsh club.
Gerrard offered his full support to Rodgers as he plans on developing a new set up at the Merseyside club, and vowed to work closely with the entire new staff.
He added, “With our new manager and coaching staff in place, it's an exciting time. I'm really excited to get going again in the new set up.”
