Liverpool and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 but nevertheless refused to take his advice of turning his back on the Reds.
The Paris Saint Germain superstar asked the talismanic midfielder to ply his trade elsewhere from Liverpool, before England’s friendly match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 on Wednesday.
The match marked Gerrard’s 100th professional appearance for the Three Lions. He has now entered the elite panel of six players who have reached this landmark.
During his career, the English International has achieved extraordinary things. He helped the Reds win FA Cup and League Cup laurels and steered them to a memorable Champions League triumph back in 2005.
However, the Premier League title is one accolade to have eluded the great man. And it seems highly unlikely that the midfielder will be able to realize his dream of laying his hands on the league trophy. The Reds are currently battling to revive their dismal
state of affairs and are entrenched in the bottom half of the table.
Besides, they look to be in no position to mount a challenge for the title in the near future. Being 32 years of age, Gerrard has not got time on his side. He has already been advised by some, apart from Ibrahimovic, to exhaust his talents in a club where
they will come to fruition.
Nonetheless, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 legend refused to turn his back on the club, from where he started his footballing career.
He said that he appreciated the advice of the Swedish star, but he is better off playing for a club who have already won most number of European titles amongst the English teams.
“I'm a big fan of Zlatan as a player but I'm not going to take his advice,” he told the reporters.
“I am very happy at Liverpool and in my opinion I am at one of the biggest clubs in the world, a team that has won the European Cup five times.”
“So I'm happy where I am but thanks for his opinion.”
Gerrard was approached multiple times by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at a time when the Blues were on a title winning spree. However, he spurned their overture out of his sheer loyalty for Liverpool.
