Liverpool’s inspirational skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 believes that his side will bounce back in the next season, after losing out to Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The Merseyside team lost 2-1 to the Blues which ended their ambition of securing a historic domestic cup double, and by doing that also make up for their lamentable performance in the Premier League this season.
Currently, Liverpool are lying at the ninth place in the league table and are three points behind eighth ranked Fulham.
Even though the English International admitted his side’s shortcomings in the league this season, he felt that they can draw confidence from their achievements in the cup competitions and will emerge as a better team in the next season.
While talking to reporters, he said: “We are http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, we will bounce back. We will strengthen in the summer and we will come back and fight again. That’s what this club does. All through my career it’s been about highs and lows.”
The Reds’ ongoing league campaign is their worst in almost 60 years. Their home form in particular has been well below par, where they have only managed to win 5 games out of18 and have dropped 30 points in total. At the moment, they have 49 points from
their 36 league games.
The 31-year old bemoaned his side’s inconsistency in the league this season, but believed that they don’t deserve a position as low as eighth or ninth in the league table.
“We need to find a better level of consistency in the league – the performances haven’t been good enough.” He added.
Talking about the final against Chelsea on Saturday, Gerrard felt that his side deserved to take Chelsea into the extra time based on their performance in the second half, but conceded that they didn’t play their best football for a major portion of the
game.
He continued, “Looking back, we never got going until 30 minutes into the game and I think we got even better once Andy came on and we finished the game a lot stronger than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786… I wouldn't say we did enough to win the game.”
