Liverpool skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, has termed Jose Mourinho as the ‘special one’ and said that he would love to work alongside the Portuguese manager.
The English International last week made his 600th appearance for the Merseyside club. During his illustrious career, the talismanic midfielder won scores of footballing laurels and also guided the Reds to their fifth European crown in 2005.
His sublime form back in 2004-2005 resulted in Mourinho, who was then the manager of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, making advances on him on three different occasions.
The Blues were on a title winning spree under the 49-year old then and had a lot to offer to Gerrard.
The midfielder had never won the Premier League title and was awarded with the opportunity of fulfilling his long-time dream, apart from being offered with a lucrative wage. However, out of his sheer loyalty and commitment to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, he spurned all such
overtures from the current Real Madrid chief.
Even though Gerrard has no plans of parting ways with the Merseyside club, he confessed he would love to play for Mourinho.
He said that he has always kept the ‘Special One’ in his highest esteem and veneration and that he gave his offer a serious thought before turning it down.
“Liverpool weren't really challenging at the time, so there was something to think about,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“But I ended up saying 'no' [in 2004] and a year later I said 'no' again. But he came back when he arrived at Real Madrid two years ago.”

“I would like to play for Mourinho - the Special One.”
Gerrard started his career in the Liverpool youth academy. He made his debut back in 1998 and became the captain of the side in October, 2003. During his lengthy stay at Anfield, he notched up 90 league goals in 415 appearances.
The 32-year old’s contract is set to expire in June, 2014. However, it remains highly unlikely that he will ply his trade somewhere else once he completes his stipulated deal, as the chances of him uniting with Mourinho remain to be very slim.
