Recently, there had been a lot of consultation going on in the Merseyside club, discussing the possibility of a stadium switch in order to generate greater revenue from the Reds home fixtures.
Initially, a new venue named as the Stanley Park Stadium was proposed, which could accommodate 60,000 fans.
However, on Monday, the members of the club’s top hierarchy decided against decamping from Anfield. Instead, they now plan on refurbishing the historic stadium in order to meet their required financial goals.
The decision was welcomed by the Liverpool talisman, who has got a strong affinity with the venue.
He stated that Anfield carried a lot of historic significance and the club’s decision of not to pursue another venue will also be warmly received by the fans and supporters.
“I'm really pleased. I've had some special occasions at Anfield and so have the club,” he told the reporter in an interview.
“It is major news for the club…I've been like everyone, waiting for the verdict on that, and it looks like it is going to be Anfield which is great. A lot of history and important things have happened at Anfield and I think it is fantastic Liverpool are staying there.”

Keeping in view the club’s grim financial situation, some options were tabled as to how they can extract optimum profit from their home games. However, the overture was spurned by Liverpool.
