  1. Whitherspoon SHOULD win this one.  I really think it would boil down to intangibles.  Whitherspoon entered the ring in shape about HALF the times he fought over his entire career.  He was a bit more dedicated near age 40 than he was in his late 20s.  I could also see him underestimating Coetzee.

Coetzee wasnt a very good boxer but he always came to work ready and in shape.  He would be boxed around for the first few rounds,  probably losing 4 of the first 6.  As Tim begins to slow down he is hurt in round 7 by a looping right.  He survives without falling but Gerrie is back in the fight.

Tim is hurt again in round 9 and fights a cautious fight from that point on.  Coetzee, lacking the ability to break through Witherspoon's defense has to settle for a distance fight.   Still he outworks Tim down the stretch.

Coetzee by close decision in 15

  2. Frank Bruno fought them both and slaughtered Coetzee. And Bruno wasn't very good and i'm British. Witherspoon ko'd him in 11 rounds at Wembley Staduim and Bruno said he had deceptively fast hands.

Flabby Tim had great stamina and would have won on a 10th round ko.

  3. witherspoon wins this one by close unanimous decision.
