Gerrymandering: unconstitutional?

do you think that political gerrymandering is unconstitutional? why or why not?

  1. Depends on the situation. Why? The Supreme Court says so.


  2. Whether it's constitutional or not, it's just plain wrong.

  3. It is not in and of itself unconstitutional.  The Supreme Court has NOT said it's unconstitutional in all instances.  If districts are drawn to dilute representation of a particular racial background, then it is unconstitutional.

    I do think it's wrong.  If my own district wasn't gerrymandered to be a safe Democratic district, maybe the discussion in the last election would have been about issues instead of whether the district would remain a Black vote in Congress or become a Latino vote.

    And yes, I do realize that there are districts gerrymandered to be safe Republican districts as well... those are also wrong, IMO.
