http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 has gone on to claim that Olivier Giroud needs time to adapt to the Premier League, before he can start scoring goals for fun.
The striker was signed by Arsenal earlier in the transfer window, as the team looked to strengthen their attack force.
He was initially believed to have been brought in to play alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, but as it stands he will now have to do all the goal scoring alone.
With Van Persie leaving the team to join Manchester United, all the pressure was on the twenty five year olds shoulders, as everyone started to expect big things from him.
Given the fact that Van Persie scored thirty goals last season, it was never going to be easy for the French international to be a direct replacement for him.
However, a number of critics and players at the club feel that all he needs is some time, before he really starts to show his true worth.
Gervinho, when talking about the forward and his potential is reported to have said: "[Giroud] is very motivated, but I think that too much pressure should not be put on him. Replacing someone who has scored more than 30 goals in the previous season is not
easy.”
"He will not resolve the problems immediately. He needs a little time. If the coach signed him for Arsenal, it means that he has qualities.”
"He still needs time to adapt."
Over the last two games, there has been a decent improvement in the way Giroud has been playing. He seems to be settling into the team slowly and will eventually end up understanding just how the team has to play.
Arsene Wenger also claimed that he was impressed by the way he performed against Stoke City and feels that he is going to be crucial to the team.
He is an aerial threat and can hold the ball up for the rest of the team with ease, this is one ability that former Arsenal strikers failed to have.
Should everything work out, Giroud would end up bagging goals for fun in the coming weeks.
