Gestural Expressions?

SO I just started Drawing 131 today, and the teacher wanted us to look at Gestural Expressions.

The book is so confusing, how it explains it, so I was wondering if someone could explain it in a less complicated way?

I don't understand the term.  I know what a gesture is.  I know what an expression is.  They are two different things, even though they are, both, forms of nonverbal communication.

The combination of the terms suggests that a "gesture" is made with the whole face, like, pointing out a direction by aiming one's nose that way.  Perhaps winking and sticking out one's tongue are as much a gestures as an expressions.

I really don't know.
