  1. i run long distance..i'm not terribly good at it (5k=20:23)...but my mile is like a 5:40.  I suggest you try doing 1-mile repeats (basically you run a mile, rest for 2 minutes, and then do it again.  Probably 3 a day to start).  Also, incorporating a sprint workout on a 6th day of the week might help, and it definitely won't hurt your finish at meets.

  2. dammn dude i hardly run at all and i got 6:01 haha yeahhh id think you are overdoing it just set a faster mile time that is all really push yourself through the misery of a major headache but then again i run from everything...when i run i think of something i wanna run from and one time i got like 4 minutes flat cuz all i was doing was thinking about how bad i wanted to run away and i literally sprinted an entire mile i was dead for like a week after that but yah i did it :)

  3. yea dude do track and trust me DO NOT GET OUT OF SHAPE i had a 5:52 mile time in track after summer i had cross country and i got a 6:30 so just stay conditiond and practice hard in track

  4. yes.. pick up your lap time try 1st to reduce your lap time...i.e 400 meter to 1:30=6min mile.. work on short diastance times then improne your stamina with long distance training... good luck mate..

  5. There are a few things you should do if you want to go Sub-6 in the mile.

The first thing you do is get a coach or join a local running club. Depending how old you are (if you're in high school) join your school cross country and track team. The coach will defently help you break 6. On the other hand, if not try this training plan.

5 miles 5x a week is not doing anthing if you're not going the right pace. If you're running 13 minutes per mile, that does nothing. Try to hit around 10:00 minutes per mile and go maybe 3-4 miles.

And Stretch! Streching is important because it will help you stay injury free and help you recover quicker.

Good luck! It's hard at first, but don't give up!
