Question:

Get Rid of Greasy Hair?

i used to wash my hair every other day, but for a week i randomly started washing it everyday in the morning. now my hair gets really greasy by night and is absolutely disgusting by the next morning. i've been trying to wash it with only freshwater every other day, which helps a little bit but it's so hard to get out all the grease and whatnot. should i just keep washing it with freshwater, possibly everyday? i don't want to leave my hair for a week without washing it, and i don't want to buy specially formulated expensive treatment shampoos to stop it. i find shampoos such as head and shoulders help a little, but doesn't get rid of the grease long enough so that i can wash my hair every other day. helpp?

  1. just keep on washing it with head and sholders, it should help more the longer you use it.

  2. Okay, I had that problem and what you do is rinse your hair with a mix white vinegar and plain water once you finish using the shampoo and conditioner. The vinegar will clean off any gross stuff on your head, and by the time you wake up you won't smell the vinegar. Make sure that you pour the vinegar and water mixture from your scalp and let it flow down.

  3. to make it look less greasy take some baby powder and apply it to the greasy parts in your hair

also if you use conditioner than dont apply it to your roots

your roots already have natural oils in them and adding condtioner to that only makes your hair greasier

    ....

    i hope i helped

    good luck=]

  4. I had the same issue, so I can give you a few tips:

~If you're not repeating your shampoo, start repeating.  Use two small amounts instead of one big one.  The first time won't suds up too much, but it will the second time.

~Get some baby powder (or dusting powder that you might use if you wax your legs/armpits/etc.) and put a bit on the greasy areas.  If you have darker hair, just brush it through until it's not noticeable.  It sounds weird, but I do this (I also have dark hair) and it works well.  I guess the powder soaks up the grease.

~Wear your hair in a loose bun or ponytail, or loosely in a clip.  Really, any loose style that's pulled back will help your hair look less greasy.

~Don't wash your whole head every day.  For me, it's my bangs that are the worst, and sometimes the rest of the top of my head.  So, separate the top bit  and tie the bottom bit back and wash only the top part either under the tub faucet or shower (depending on what kind of tub/shower you have).

~Try a bunch of different drugstore shampoos that claim to help with greasy hair (such as the Herbal Essence De-gunkify [or something to that effect]).  The drugstore ones are obviously cheaper than the specialty stuff, but you should be able to find something that works.

~Just wash it every day.  If you're concerned about drying out your hair, use moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, and any other hydrating treatment.  The grease is your hormones acting up, and it'll die down eventually.

~If you have days where you're not going anywhere that you need to look half-decent, don't wash your hair.  This should gradually get your hair to a state where you don't have to wash it every 24 hours.  If you can, alternate showering in the morning and before you go to bed, so your hair will have gone about 36 hours without washing instead of 48.

Greasy hair is a real pain in the ***, so I feel your pain.

Good luck and I hope I helped :)

  5. This sounds really odd,

but baby powder does the trick for me.

Just pat some on your roots in the morning,

(keep patting it and running your fingers through it until it blends)

    ALSO,

I find headbands are an easy way to disguise the grease.

just slip one in and pull your hair back so noone can see your roots

(I usualy add a braid or two so noone can really tell)

    P.S

are you using conditioner? Because if so, just use that once a week, it will reduce the amount of oils produced in your hair.

Anyways thats all I've got, hope I could help =]

  6. With summer here, you may be sweating a lot more than in colder months. Washing more frequently should be a nicer thing to do. Otherwise, put in some baby powder. That will help soak up some of the grease and give your hair a fresher feel/scent.

PS. Why not wash at end of day instead of morning?

  7. ok u need to btu rusk product my uncle in in the buisness he brings free stuff buy the rusk shampoo and conditioner

im into my hair alott i use thiss trust me

  8. ask snape ;D hahah jk

    wash it everyday then.

  9. i think your routine of washing your hair so frequently has created this problem.  I have the same problem but not to that extent.  Sometimes you may need to wash your hair twice with shampoo, that really gets rid of all the oil/grease and you need to condition more.  I think its just that because you strip the oils away (by washing it everyday) so frequently your body creates oil faster to make up for it, so you need to either wash your hair less and out of with the whole grease factor for a period of time until your body adjusts.  Or i have heard, but not tried, yet that if you condition your scalp and roots that after some time your hair won't get oily as quickly, but you have to put up with oily hair for a little while.

I am not any expert though, but in time if you reduce how often you wash it, it should go back to normal.
