Get Serious looking to recover in the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes at Monmouth Park
Get Serious has not claimed a victory in the last season, but he has an incentive to step it up, and bring his best game forth in the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes on 4th July, 2012, at Monmouth Park.
The reason that, Get Serious, will actually be getting serious on the track is that he claimed victory in the Red Bank Stakes previously on 5th September, 2010, where he was mounted by rider, Pablo Fragoso.
The jockey guided him to victory over the Patrick Biancone trained, Nownownow while the third place was secured by the George Weaver’s charge, Boots Ahead.
Over the distance of one mile on turf, the Jacques J. Moore owned runner will take on seven other runners, with the hope of claiming what belongs to him.
In 2011, the John Forbes trained runner seemed to lose all his fervour when he kept facing one setback after the other, in light of this, the trainer commented:
“As good as 2010 was, 2011 couldn’t have been any worse for him.”
John Forbes further added that: “He caught off turf courses and never really seemed to find his footing that year. Hopefully that’s all behind us.”
The son of City Zip, foaled by mare Java Gal, claimed a placed finish in his most recent start after a gap of five starts.
Teamed with rider Pablo Frogoso, the eight-year-old gelding delivered a solid finish in the Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes at Monmouth Park on 10th June, 2012. He handled the 1 1/8 mile track well, and finished in third place.
The race was won by the Claude McGaughey trained, Data Link, whereas the second place was secured by Get Stormy, who is under the training of Thomas M. Bush.
The trainer appreciated the performance of, Get Serious, in this race to a great extent and told the media that:
“That may have been the best race of his career,” Forbes added about the gelding’s most recent start. “He finished third, but he fought the whole way. I was real impressed with his effort. I hope it signaled that he’s back.”
