Get Set, Go: Matteo Manassero and Sean O'Hair earn invitations for the 2011 Masters
2010 will not be holding any major golfing events for this spell and thus published the final official world golf ranking on Monday. According to the OWGR, Matteo Manassero and Sean O'Hair have decided to step back into the Masters
for next year with full force and have cemented their place in the top 50 player ranking.
The seventeen-year-old turned professional this year, some six months back, and has already been able to grab an invitation for the 2011 Masters event. With Manassero all ready to step into the exclusive 92 player battle field,
the Italian is currently standing with a good position to charge in the Augusta National Golf Course.
Manassero's last appearance at the Augusta National was in 2009 when he played the European amateur to break an impressive 73 year old record. The young prodigy entered the limelight after attaining the 36th place and
displayed a play which reined the best in 73 years.
Now with The Masters commencing from the 7th of April 2011, the seventeen year old can prove his metal as a professional since he holds a good record from his previous play at the Dubai World Championship.
“Let’s see what happens because my goal is to play good golf” Manassero said.
As for O'Hair, his journey at the ranking has been rather appalling as the twenty-eight-year-old began the year with position number 11 in the list and ended it with a number 43 in hand.
The 1999 turned professional nevertheless grabbed a chance to play the Masters among a competitive list of players which also includes the likes of players who basically don’t have membership of the PGA Tour and have fewer events
to qualify for an entry into the Augusta National GC.
According to news, The GC holds a very selective entry for the golfers and tries to keep the number to an approx 100. The masters as one of the four big majors, is holding one of the smallest fields it can.
As far as the world rankings are concerned, the golfers who make it to the top 50 cult will be attaining the invitation to the 2011 Masters automatically. For those who failed to step into the top 50, they still have till April
which is exactly one week before the Masters and a chance to win the PGA event that offers full FedEx Cup points.
All in all, the exclusive field will be fought by Phil Mickelson defending his title while Tiger Woods will be attacking the title to end his 10 winless major drought.
