  1. Lol, its okay to be bad at setting! I've played for 6 years and I still can't promise I'll have a good set every time I try.

But there's this special ball call the Setters ball, it weighs more than a volleyball and its for setters to use, it's pretty useful just remember DO NOT BUMP IT. It's hurts lol. Also, when setting remember these few steps

    1) Hold your hands in a trangle shape in front of your forehead

    2) Use your fingerpads, not all your fingers

    3) Shoot forward, to the setter, or if you are the setter, aim for the hitter

    4) MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS AREN'T TOO WIDE, I have seen wayy to many JV girls try to set but the ball ends up hitting them on the head (Which isn't illegal, so if it happens to you play it)

    Hope this helps :]

  2. to get better at setting.

go outside and stand close toa wall and just set little sets to get the correct formation then slowly move farther back to gain strenght!

  3. Practice! If you need help ask a friend to help you or ask your coach. You can also ask me. I play on a volleyball club.

  4. only practise can make  u  perfect.it may take some time but u be a very good player if u give ur 100%  in it.

  5. We all start off not that great but if you work at it and practice everyday, you will improve. I guarantee it! For passing, make sure you are down in a ready position (knees bent so that your hand can touch the floor) and make sure you have a good platform (hands extended and your fingers entwined). ALWAYS point your shoulders in the direction that you want the ball to go. If you do these things, it should help you become a better passer. Not all people are meant to be setters...but if you are interested in that position, then you want to make sure that your fingers are spread apart and if a volleyball were to be placed in your hands, it would fit perfectly. Then just push the ball up and out with your fingertips. When it comes to setting, it's all about the fingertips. For serving, make sure you have a good toss (not too high but high enough that when your arm extends out all the way, you come in direct contact with the ball.) Just serve it with some force behind and eventually you will become consistent. And last but not least: hitting, make sure you do a three step approach (If you are not sure what this is, then you may want to ask your coach about it) and swing your arm all the way down. It is important to follow through on your hits because it makes them go down faster, instead of out. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Keep practicing! I hope this helps!

  6. It's ok if you're good at some things and suck at others.  I have some friends on the volleyball team and when I'm with them in gym during volleyball week or some other time. They'll comment on how they suck at setting.  Sometimes when I'm conditioning with them, I'll only play the back row and I'll switch with someone and they play the front row - thats just what we're better at. Don't sweat it, try to improve but work harder on the things your the best at.

Usually if you're a hitter ... better at blocking the ball .. etc

Usually shorter people play better passing.  I alwys say it's because we're closer to the ground so it takes less time to dive for a ball lol ... kidding but still .....

different people do different things!  It's called a TEAM!

  7. setting in my fav let me show u how ok so first

put your hands right above your head and when the ball hits your hands push up and point to the sky hope i help!!

please make mine best awsner thnx!!!

  8. U should try again and again and if u really enjoy it u will do it.I believe in you :)

  9. take a ball and just go up to a wall and set or pass off the wall to yourself.  this way you control the pace of the drill, and if you mess up you don't have a partner that misses out on some better practice or has to go chase down the ball.

  10. Buy a volleyball and find a friend to work out with away from practice.  They do not even have to be a volleyball person that wants to do volleyball work outs with you.  Just a good friend to toss the ball to you and catch the ball for you.  If your friend is a volleyball person that wants to work out with you, alternate tossing with them.

Toss 10 to for your friend to pass back to you.  Have them toss 10 to you.  Do at least 100 passes.  Do the same for setting.

Have them step back about 45 feet and serve to each other.

You can work on your footwork for spiking alone or with your friend.  Mark of a spot that will represent the net.  Move back and do your approach.  Move back quickly and do your approach again.  Do 10 and take a 1 minute break.  Do 100 approaches or more.

The more touches you can get on the ball away from your team practices, the better.
